The knocking sound may be heard if the brakes are disintegrated due to overriding and the brakes may become tearing. The brakes may be wearer because of the overriding of the vehicles. The sound may be caused due to the leakage in the oil of the brakes and the leakage should be stopped immediately and you have to be sure in doing such sort of things.
